Juez David Sweat, ante los ojos de la comunidad Existe una gran semejanza entre las Cortes y un magnífico escenario donde cada artista interpreta su rol en su propia forma y estilo. La figura central en el Tribunal es el juez y detrás de cada juez hay un ser humano con sentimientos, dudas y temores. El Juez David Sweat de la Corte Superior de Athens es uno de esos seres humanos. El Juez Sweat es una persona de actitud positiva y notable gentileza para dirigirse a los demás. Es capaz de expresar un planteamiento fuerte con un rostro amable. Esta expresión amable y sus modales gentiles conducen a algunos a creer que pueden hacerle cambiar de idea fácilmente, lo cual es muy improbable una vez que ha sopesado los hechos y tomado una decisión. No obstante, algunos podrían creer que esta actitud es tozudez, cuando realmente es certeza, la certeza de que ha escuchado todos los hechos presentados, ha sopesado esos hechos y ha tomado la decisión correcta. Un nivel elevado de moral personal es el primer paso hacia la transparencia. La reputación de una persona no puede ser como un edredón fabricado de retazos, especialmente cuando se trata de un juez, un buen juez. Eso es lo que tenemos en el Juez Sweat. "Es un hombre de normad de conducta elevada, incluyendo su vida personal", han dicho algunas personas sobre él. La comunidad ha seguido sus actos a través de varios juicios difíciles. "Ha estado siempre atento a cada detalle y ha sido muy cuidadoso acerca de la interpretación que se le da a la ley. Otorga el mismo tiempo para los planteamientos de la defensa y de la fiscalía en busca de la verdad en cada caso". Hasta los inmigrantes indocumentados han dicho que se sienten cómodos con los jueces en Athens y con referencia a los juicios han comentado acerca del Juez Sweat, "El le dice a los acusados lo que pueden esperar oír y se asegura de que entiendan sus derechos antes de que presenten una declaración". La ciudad de Athens es realmente afortunada al tener un hombre con dichas normas de conducta e imparcialidad imponiendo justicia en nuestra comunidad.		Judge David Sweat, in the eyes of the community There is a resemblance of the courtroom to a magnificent stage where each actor plays a role in his or her own style. The central figure in the courtroom is the judge, and behind each judge is a human being with feelings, doubts and fears. Superior Court Judge David Sweat is one of those human beings. Judge Sweat is a person with a positive attitude and remarkable gentleness in his approach. He is able to express very strong statements with a pleasant face. This pleasant expression and gentle manner leads some to believe that his mind can easily be changed, but that is unlikely once he has weighed the facts and made a decision. Although some may believe this is stubbornness, it is actually conviction; conviction that he has listened to all the facts presented, weighed those facts and made the right decision. High moral standards are the first steps toward transparency. There can't be a patchwork quilt in a person's character, especially when it comes to a judge, a good judge. That's what we have in Judge Sweat. "He is a man of high standards of conduct and that includes his personal life," some people have stated. The community has followed his acts through several difficult trials. "He was always attentive to every detail and careful about the interpretation of the law. He allows equal time for the defense and the prosecution in looking for the truth in the matter." Even undocumented immigrants have said that they feel good about the judges in Athens, and, in reference to those trials, they commented about Judge Sweat, saying "He will tell defendants what to expect and be absolutely sure that they understand their rights before entering a plea." We are indeed fortunate to have a man of such high standards and fairness seeking justice in our community.
