UGA celebra el Festival Internacional en Athens

El centro de Athens celebrará la diversidad cultural el sábado, 8 de abril con el Festival Internacional en la Calle desde las 12 del mediodía y hasta las 5 de la tarde en el Collage Avenue. El Festival Internacional ofrece a los estudiantes, residentes y al público en general una oportunidad de experimentar las diferentes culturas y grupos étnicos representados en el campus de la Universidad de Georgia y en el resto de Athens.

El Festival Internacional está organizado por estudiantes voluntarios del grupo 'International Student Life' de la Universidad de Georgia (ISL por sus siglas en inglés). Diferentes culturas y países estarán representados a través de música y bailes, manualidades y mesas con información. El evento es gratis.

La animación estará a cargo de Salsa Sabor y Ritmo, 'Tap Dawgs' de UGA, Salsa Fiera, bailarines tradicionales chinos y 'Bulldawg Bhangra'. Las mesas que representan a cada país tendrán información, la cual será presentada de maneras originales.

ISL agrupa a unas 30 organizaciones internacionales de UGA, tales como la Asociación de Estudiantes Hispanos, la Asociación de Estudiantes Africanos, la Asociación de Estudiantes Brasileños, Amnistía Internacional y otros. Descrito como "un arco hacia el mundo", el ISL está diseñado para mejorar el conocimiento internacional y también para proveer servicios de orientación para nuevos estudiantes extranjeros en UGA.

UGA Celebrates Culture at Street Fest

Downtown Athens will burst into culture on Saturday, April 8 with the annual International Street Festival from noon to 5 p.m. on College Avenue. Street Fest offers students, residents and the general public an opportunity to experience the different cultures and ethnicities represented on campus and in the community.

Street Fest is organized by student volunteers of the International Student Life (ISL) Office at UGA. Different cultures and countries will be represented through musical and dance performances, handicrafts and display tables. There is no cost to attend this event.

Performances will include Salsa Sabor y Ritmo, the UGA Tap Dawgs, Salsa Fiera, Chinese Traditional Dancers and Bulldawg Bhangra. Display tables will also represent various cultures and countries in unique ways.

ISL oversees approximately 30 international organizations at UGA. Such organizations include the Hispanic Student Association, African Student Union, the Brazilian Student Association and Amnesty International. Described as "an archway to the world," ISL is designed to increase international awareness and also provides orientation services for new international students.
