La asociacion de Estudiantes Hispanos anuncia su Noche Latina 2005

La Asociación de Estudiantes Hispanos (HSA por sus siglas en inglés) de la Universidad de Georgia invita a todos a disfrutar de música, comida y entretenimiento en su Noche Latina 2005, evento que marcará la culminación del Mes de la Hispanidad.

Noche Latina 2005 contará con una gran variedad de presentaciones artísticas, muchas de las cuales mostrarán elementos de la cultura latina. Los grupos a participar en el evento son Lambda Theta Alpha, Lambda Theta Phi, Caribsa (Asociación de Estudiantes Caribeños), Salsa Casino, Ballet Mexicano de Lupita Sosa, Grupo de Breakdance de UGA, Teatro Brasileño por Robert Moser y estudiantes, Capoeira, Tango Río y muchos más.

El evento se realizará el viernes, 14 de octubre del 2005 a las 6:30 p.m. en el salón Georgia Hall del Centro para Estudiantes Tate de la Universidad de Georgia. El precio de la entrada es de $5 para estudiantes y $8 para los no estudiantes.

HSA está involucrada en la comunidad y, recientemente, ha ayudado no sólo a la comunidad de Athens sino también a la comunidad del Sur de Estados Unidos. La organización recaudó cientos de dólares para las víctimas del huracán Katrina y $1000 para los Servicios para los Migrantes del Condado de Athens-Clarke.

La Asociación de Estudiantes Hispanos es parte de los Programas y Servicios para Minorías (MSP por sus siglas en inglés) de la Universidad de Georgia y fue creado en 1991 por un grupo de estudiantes bajo la guía de Dr. Leslie K. Bates, ex-directora de MSP.

La membresía a HSA está abierta a todos, estudiantes y no estudiantes de la Universidad de Georgia. Esta organización se reúne dos veces al mes en el campus de la universidad. La mayoría de los miembros son latinos o de descendencia latina, pero la membresía está también abierta para aquellas personas interesadas en la comunidad latina y el idioma español. No se necesita hablar español para ser parte de la organización pero sí es una gran oportunidad para practicarlo.

Hispanic Student Association presents Noche Latina 2005

The Hispanic Student Association (HSA) of the University of Georgia invites everybody to join them for great music, tasty food, and entertainment at Noche Latina 2005, event that will mark the end of Hispanic Heritage Month.

Noche Latina 2005 will showcase a broad range of artistic performances, most of them showing elements of the Latino culture. The groups to participate at Noche Latina 2005 are: Lambda Theta Alpha, Lambda Theta Phi, Caribsa (Caribbean Student Association), Salsa Casino, Lupita Sosa's Mexican Ballet, UGA Breakdance Group, Brazilian Theater by Robert Moser and students, Capoeira, Tango Río and many more.

The date set for the event is Friday, October 14, 2005 at 6:30 p.m. and it will take place at Georgia Hall in the Tate Student Center of the University of Georgia. The entry fee is $5 for UGA students and $8 for non-UGA students.

HSA is involved with the community of Athens and the South of the United States. Recently, the student-organization raised hundreds of dollars for the Katrina hurricane victims and $1000 for Migrant Services here in Athens.

The Hispanic Student Association is part of the University of Georgia's Minority Services and Programs (MSP) and was created in 1991 by a group of students under the guidance of Dr. Leslie K. Bates, former director of MSP.

HSA is open to everyone, student or non-student of the University of Georgia and holds meetings twice a month. Most members are Latinos or of Latino descent, but anyone who is interested in the Spanish language or in learning about the diversity of the Latin culture is more than welcome to join. You do not need to speak Spanish, but this is a great opportunity to practice if you do speak it.
