En la edición de agosto, tuve el placer de leer unos artículos extraordinarios. La descripción de la "Guerra Fría" entre nuestra sociedad capitalista y la tolerancia a escondidas de inmigrantes sin papeles me ha dejado sin palabras. Usted ha captado y entretejido con declaraciones y ejemplos esta verdad de la sociedad en la cual nos encontramos hoy y que va creciendo. Duele leer este artículo porque día a día oigo a mis clientes cuando asisten a terapia tratando de comprender este dilema. Muchas gracias por haber escrito este artículo tan claro e informativo pues sacar la verdad al aire es una manera muy saludable de curar el alma y crear conciencia.

El segundo artículo acerca de la enfermedad de Lyme es un artículo incomparable ya que es un arte incluir tanta información significativa en media página. Quiero felicitar a la escritora. Me gustaría sugerirles a sus lectores que visiten www.LymeNet.com. Aquí se explica la controversia sobre esta enfermedad que nos ha convertido a todos en los leprosos de nuestra sociedad actual. Un 90 por ciento de los casos de Lyme no son reportados al Centro para el Control de la Enfermedades por el miedo que tienen los médicos a que el gobierno investigue su práctica, revisen la medicación que recetan a sus paciente y el gasto que representan a las compañías de seguros médicos, ya que los antibióticos designados a tratar esta bacteria son muy costosos. Los médicos también tienen que proteger sus licencias médicas.

Letter to the Editor

I must say that two articles in the August edition of Eco Latino moved me. The description of the "Cold War" between our capitalistic society and the silent tolerance for illegal immigrants left me speechless. Somehow, you have managed to weave this living concept using words and examples. It hurts to read this article because I hear about this dilemma daily in my counseling practice. Thank you for writing this article because there is nothing more healing than to talk about painful issues aloud and create awareness.

The second article is the one about Lyme Disease. This is also a superb article that encompasses a lot of critical information in half a page. Bravo to the writer. I would like to suggest to the readers to also visit www.LymeNet.com. This site explains the Lyme Disease controversy since we are the lepers of today's society. The CDC (Center for Disease Control) does not receive notices of the 90 per cent of Lyme cases to be reported by law by physicians because doctors are too afraid of government retaliation. If they report, treat, or medicate a Lyme patient with expensive antibiotics, they risk to be exposed to a visit by the Health Department, audited and also be marginalized by the insurance companies (mainly HMO's). The removal of their medical license is also their big concern.
