La Tertulia Atheniense

Pintorescas historias, sonoras carcajadas y el aroma de un buen tinto colorean los lunes con caprichosas pinceladas en la clásica ciudad de Athens.

Noche de Ronda en la Tertulia, donde la camaradería y un buen tema de conversación son los ingredientes principales para olvidar cualquier pesar.

Llueva, truene o relampaguee, cada lunes a las 6:30 de la tarde en un conocido restaurante de la ciudad se reúne el simpático grupo de la Tertulia con el propósito de practicar la lengua de Cervantes e intercambiar ideas, de esta manera integrando diferentes culturas representadas por el idioma universal de la amistad.

Bien sea discutiendo la noticia más reciente de lo que pasa en el mundo o compartiendo un pedacito de las costumbres de nuestro país de origen al igual que otros temas diversos, se nos pasan las horas mientras aprendemos de cada uno de nosotros.

Todo comenzó hace dos años cuando nuestro amigo Jim Hawkins, un ferviente admirador del idioma español y la cultura hispana, tuvo la maravillosa idea de crear el grupo de la Tertulia con la finalidad de tener una especie de clase conversacional por lo menos una vez a la semana para así practicar español y de esta manera no olvidar lo antes aprendido.

No había pasado mucho tiempo cuando otros athenienses con los mismos intereses (incluyéndome) comenzaron a unirse al grupo dándole así más personalidad y carácter. Desde profesores de español y literatura española, pasando por profesionales en el área del derecho, producción de películas, física, bienes raíces, etc., hasta jubilados; lo cierto es que el ambiente derrocha energía positiva con mucho sabor.

The Athenian Tertulia

Monday evenings are celebrated by colorful tales, pleasing laughter and the aroma of fine wine in the classic city of Athens.

Soiree with La Tertulia, where camaraderie and good conversation are the ideal ingredients that help us forget our everyday worries. "Tertulia" in Spanish is defined as a group of individuals who come together, talk, socialize and share ideas.

Rain or shine, each Monday at 6:30 in the afternoon in a local restaurant, the sociable group of La Tertulia meets with the purpose of practicing the language of Cervantes (Spanish) and exchanging different points of view. This is how the different cultures represented by the universal language of friendship integrate.

Be it by discussing the latest news of what is happening around the globe, by sharing a small piece of our native country's culture or any other topic, the truth is that we enjoy ourselves while learning from each other.

Over two years ago, our friend Jim Hawkins, a fervent admirer of the Spanish tongue, had the wonderful idea of creating La Tertulia with the goal of forming a sort of Spanish conversational class for those who feel a passion for this language.

It wasn't long before other Athenians with the same interests (including myself) began to join the group and give it more character and personality. The group is made up of people ranging from Spanish professors to professionals in the areas of law, movie production, science, real estate, etc., and even retirees. With La Tertulia, there is no doubt that the ambiance is filled with positive energy and a lot of flavor.
