Asociacion de estudiantes hispanos de UGA celebra mes de la hispanidad

Como parte de los diferentes eventos para celebrar el Mes de la Hispanidad, la Asociación de Estudiantes Hispanos de la Universidad de Georgia en Athens (HSA por sus siglas en inglés) patrocinó el "Coffee Hour" de la primera semana de octubre.

El "Coffee Hour" es una reunión que se lleva a cabo cada viernes durante el semestre estudiantil en el edificio Memorial Hall en el campus de UGA y está organizado por la Asociación de Estudiantes Internacionales (ISL por sus siglas en inglés). En esta celebración, diferentes grupos y organizaciones patrocinan el evento cada semana ofreciéndoles la oportunidad de informar a otros sobre sus actividades y programas. Durante el evento, se ofrece comida y café, muchas veces preparados por los mismos estudiantes, y otras veces donados por restaurantes locales. El evento se realiza desde las 11:30 a.m. hasta las 2:30 p.m. y ofrece a todos los estudiantes y visitantes la oportunidad de conocer y hablar con otros estudiantes, muchos de ellos extranjeros, ofreciendo la oportunidad de saber más sobre otros países y culturas. De igual manera, los estudiantes extranjeros pueden aprender más sobre los Estados Unidos a través de las conversaciones con estudiantes estadounidenses que deciden asistir al evento, muchos de los cuales estudian idiomas en la universidad y ven en este evento la oportunidad de conocer estudiantes de otros países y practicar otros idiomas.

La Asociación de Estudiantes Hispanos patrocinó el evento junto a la Asociación de Estudiantes Tailandeses, creando una mezcla única de gente, comida, idiomas, música y cultura en general.

Otras organizaciones que forman parte de la familia de la Asociación de Estudiantes Internacionales son: Unión de Estudiantes Africanos, Asociación de Estudiantes Brasileños, Asociación de Estudiantes Canadienses, Asociación de Estudiantes del Caribe, Unión de Estudiantes Chinos, Asociación de Estudiantes Europeos, Asociación de Estudiantes Filipino Americano, Asociación de Estudiantes de India, Club de Japón, Asociación de Estudiantes Coreanos, Asociación de Estudiantes Rusos, Asociación de Estudiantes Musulmanes, Amnistía Internacional, UNICEF y Embajadores del Mundo, entre otras.

Hispanic Student Association at UGA Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month

As part of the different events taking place in Athens to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, the Hispanic Student Association at the University of Georgia in Athens (HSA) sponsored 'Coffee Hour' on the first week of October.

'Coffee Hour' is a meeting that takes place every Friday during the school semester at Memorial Hall on UGA campus and it's organized by International Student Life (ISL). During this celebration, different groups and organizations sponsor the event each week offering the opportunity to inform others about their activities and programs.

Coffee and food are served during the event, sometimes prepared by the same students, and others donated by local restaurants. The event takes place from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and it allows students and visitors the opportunity to meet and get to know other students, mostly international, giving them the opportunity to know more about other countries and cultures. At the same time, international students can learn more about the United States through conversations with American students who decide to attend the event, most of whom study languages at the university and see this event as an chance to get to meet students from other countries and practice foreign languages.

The Hispanic Student Association sponsored the event along with the Thai Student Association, creating a unique mix of people, food, languages, music and culture in general.

Other organizations that are part of the International Student Life family are: African Students Union, Brazilian Student Association, Canadian Student Association, Caribbean Student Association, Chinese Student Union, European Student Association, Filipino American Student Association, Indian Student Association, Japan Club, Korean Student Association, Russian Student Association, Muslim Student Association, Amnesty International, UNICEF, and World Ambassadors, among others.
