Policía de Athens limpia grafitis

El Departamento de Policía del Condado de Athens-Clarke ha creado un nuevo programa llamado Programa de Erradicación de Grafitis (pintadas en las paredes). Una unidad de seis oficiales de policía se encargarán de limpiar grafitis y señales en la paredes pintados por pandillas en Athens.

El Asistente del Jefe de Policía Mark Wallace autorizó la creación de la nueva unidad, de la cual forma parte el Sargento Nick Aguilar. "Limpiaremos en todo el condado, no importa cuánto tiempo tardemos en hacerlo", dijo el Sargento Aguilar.

En su primer día de trabajo, el Sargento Aguilar, junto a otros cinco oficiales de policía de Athens, limpiaron una de las paredes del supermercado La Jalisco en la Calle Jefferson, cerca del vecindario Garnett Ridge, lugar donde se han reportado incidentes relacionados con pandillas, incluyendo un tiroteo. "Los estudios demuestran que limpiando los grafitis desanima a las personas a volver a hacerlo", dijo el oficial de policía Gerald Carter, miembro de la nueva unidad.

Después de limpiar la pared en La Jalisco, la unidad se trasladó a Garnett Ridge donde también realizaron tareas de limpieza en las paredes de algunas casas afectadas.

Con este nuevo programa, el Departamento de Policía de Athens quiere enviar el mensaje "Tú lo ensucias, nosotros lo limpiamos".

También están tomando parte en las tareas de limpieza los oficiales de policía Michael Poole, Sean Kane, Eric Stilly Harrison Daniel.

ACC Police Clean Up Graffiti

The Athens-Clarke County Police Department has created a new program named Graffiti Eradication Program. A unit of six officers will be in charge of cleaning up graffiti and signs on the walls painted by gangs in Athens.

Assistant Police Chief Mark Wallace authorized the creation of the new unit, which includes Sergeant Nick Aguilar. "We'll clean up all throughout the county, it doesn't matter how long it takes," said Sergeant Aguilar.

In their first day of work, Sergeant Aguilar, along with five other ACC police officers, cleaned up one of the side walls of La Jalisco grocery store on Jefferson Road, near the Garnett Ridge neighborhood, a place where gang related incidents have been reported, including a drive by shooting. "Studies show that by cleaning up graffiti, it will discourage people from doing it again," said SPO Gerald Carter, member of the new unit.

After cleaning the wall at La Jalisco, the unit moved to Garnett Ridge where it continued the cleaning process on the walls of several homes.

With this new program, the ACC Police Department wants to send the message "You mess it up, we have to clean it up."

Also taking part in the cleaning process are ACC police officers Michael Poole, Sean Kane, Eric Still and Harrison Daniel.
