Una sonrisa perfecta por Enrique Carrión En español existe el refrán: Quien persevera, triunfa. Estas simples pero inspiradoras palabras podrían resumir la vida de Rosanna Masciadri. La Doctora Masciadri abrió su nuevo consultorio dental en Athens hace sólo tres meses, logrando así uno de sus más esperados sueños. Pero para llegar a donde está, esta inmigrante uruguaya ha tenido que trabajar duro en su intento por lograr hacer sus sueños realidad. La Dr. Masciadri tiene 12 años de experiencia en el campo de la higiene bucal. Trabajó en Athens como dentista asociada y en 1999 comenzó a ejercer por su cuenta. Consiguió el título de Doctora de Medicina Dental de la Universidad Estatal de Uruguay en 1988 y en 1993 recibió su segundo título pero esta vez de la famosa Facultad Dental de la Universidad Tufts en Boston, Massachusetts. "La dentista a la que iba cuando era pequeña en Uruguay me inspiró a ser dentista", recuerda la Dr. Masciadri quien junto a su esposo y profesor de música de la Universidad de Georgia, Milton, y sus dos hijos, Daniel y Nicholas, han hecho de Athens su hogar. El trabajo que realiza la Dr. Masciadri se enfoca en cosmética y reconstrucción bucal, usando las última técnicas y la tecnología más moderna, la cual incluye rayos X digitales. Tiene la ayuda de cinco asistentes, entre ellas dos higienistas y dos doctores. "Los higienistas trabajan por su cuenta pero deben ser supervisados por un dentista", explica la Dr. Masciadri. "Recibimos un promedio de entre 16 y 20 pacientes al día. Me gusta atender pocos pacientes para así asegurarme de ofrecer un servicio de calidad". Debido a su habilidad de atender a sus clientes tanto en inglés como en español, el consultorio de la Dr. Masciadri recibe la visita de clientes hispanos. "Un tercio de las personas que visitan la oficina son hispanos", explica. "Desde que comencé a trabajar en Athens como dentista asociada hace 12 años, he mantenido una muy buena relación con la comunidad hispana de Athens y alrededores". La Dr. Masciadri realiza odontología general pero se concentra en cosmética como blanquear los dientes, al igual que reconstrucción y coronas, pero no trabaja con aparatos de ortodoncia, también conocidos comúnmente en Latinoamérica como aparatos o hierros. These simple, but inspiring words could summarize Rosanna Masciadri's life. Dr. Masciadri opened her new dental office in Athens only three months ago, achieving one of her dreams. But, to get where she is, this Uruguayan immigrant had to work hard in order for her dreams to become true. Dr. Masciadri has 12 years of experience in the field of dentistry. She worked as an associated dentist in Athens and in 1999 she established her own practice. She graduated with a degree of Doctor of Dental Medicine from State University of Uruguay in 1988 and in 1993 she received her second degree as a Doctor of Dental Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts at the renowned Tufts University Dental School. "The dentist that I used to visit as a young girl living in Uruguay, inspired me to become one," remembers Dr. Masciadri who along with her husband and music professor at the University of Georgia, Milton, and their two children, Daniel and Nicholas, have made Athens their home. Her work focuses on cosmetic and restorative dentistry, using the latest techniques and technology, including digital X rays. She has the help of five assistances; among them are two hygienists and two doctors. "The hygienists work individually, but they must be supervised by a dentist," explains Dr. Masciadri. "We get between 16 and 20 patients a day. I like to assist few patients in order to assure them a quality service." Due to her ability of assisting her clients in English and Spanish, Dr. Masciadri's office receives the visit of Hispanic clients. "A third of the people who visit the office are Hispanics," explains Dr. Masciadri. "Since I started working in Athens as a dentist 12 years ago, I have maintained a good relationship with the Hispanic community in Athens and surrounding areas." Dr. Masciadri practices general dentistry, but she focuses on cosmetic such as bleaching, as well as restorative and crowns, but she doesn't work with braces.
