Mujeres empresarias de Georgia

Mujeres empresarias líderes de toda Georgia han sido seleccionadas como oradoras para el quinto aniversario de la conferencia GWEN, que se llevará acabo el 20 y 21 de abril en el Renaissance PineIsle Resort del Lago Lanire, Georgia. Las Mujeres Emprendedoras de Georgia (GWEN por sus siglas en inglés) es una división del Centro de Desarrollo de Pequeños Negocios (SBDC por sus siglas en inglés) de la Universidad de Georgia. La conferencia ofrece educación, exposición, exhibiciones y contactos de negocios para ayudar a construir habilidades empresariales para las mujeres empresarias.

Los participantes de conferencias previas admiten que las encuentran valiosas. "Tomarse el tiempo para asistir a la conferencia fue la mejor cosa que he hecho para mi compañía y el dinero que mejor he gastado este año", dice Shirley Gunn de 'The Fuel Desk' en Cumming, Georgia. "Los contactos que hice en la feria me hubieran tomado seis meses hacerlos en otro lado", dice Marilyn Childress, dueña de 'Duval of Georgia' en Norcross. "Exponer en la conferencia GWEN ha hecho toda la diferencia en el crecimiento de nuestro negocio. Gracias por la oportunidad", dice Leslie Sperry y Lori Morrow, dueñas de 'L.L. Vedas' en Dallas, Georgia.

Se presentarán mujeres empresarias exitosas y líderes, incluyendo a Ella Koscik, dueña de 'MDI', quien conducirá la sesión 'De Nada a Millones: Haga crecer su negocio estratégicamente'. "¿Qué mejor manera de aprender sobre ventas y cómo usar esas ventas para hacer crecer un negocio que de una mujer que su negocio ha generado millones en ventas anuales?", sugiere Carol McDonell, quien es la nueva Directora de GWEN. "Qué mejor manera de aprender sobre "Pérdidas y Ganancias" que de Emily Sanders, presidenta de Sanders International, Inc., quien maneja más de 70 millones de dólares en activos de inversión", agrega McDonell.

"¿Qué mejor manera de aprender cómo escribir y comunicarse que de unas mujeres que son expertas en comunicación como Michelle Lane, dueña de 'Write to the Top', y Donna Satchell, dueña de 'Sucess Can be Yours', quienes son líderes de comunicación tanto oral como escrita", de acuerdo a McDonell.

Los participantes pueden aprender de la sesión titulada 'Haga un negocio que pueda vender", presentada por Julie Garella, una experta en financiamiento de capital e inversión bancaria. Garella ayuda a mujeres empresarias a encontrar el financiamiento para hacer crecer sus negocios.

La Conferencia GWEN 2005 es presentada conjuntamente con La Feria de Contratos para la Región Sureste: Contactos y Contratos, copatrocinada y coordinada por MARTA. Las mujeres empresarias tendrán la oportunidad de entrevistarse individualmente por 15 minutos con representantes de grandes corporaciones y agencias gubernamentales.

Las sesiones y los contactos ofrecen información valiosa y herramientas para negocios para las mujeres empresarias de Georgia. La conferencia es económica y representa una inversión para las dueñas de los negocios. Lori Canterbury, Directora Estatal Asociada de SBDC de Georgia, será la encargada de ceremonia de este evento.

Leading women in business from all over Georgia have been selected to speak at the fifth anniversary GWEN Conference to be held April 20 and 21 at the Renaissance PineIsle Resort, Lake Lanier Islands, Georgia. The Georgia Women Entrepreneurs (GWEN) is a division of the University of Georgia Small Business Development Center (SBDC). The conference offers education, networking, exhibits, and procurement contacts to help build business skills for women business owners.

Participants from past conferences found it valuable. "Taking the time to attend the conference was the best thing I have done for my company and the most valued money I have spent this year," says Shirley Gunn of The Fuel Desk in Cumming, Georgia. "The contacts that I made at the procurement fair would have taken me six months otherwise," says Marilyn Childress, owner of Duval of Georgia in Norcross. "Exhibiting at the GWEN conference has made all the difference in the growth of our business. Thanks for the opportunity," says Leslie Sperry and Lori Morrow, owners of L.L. Beads in Dallas, Georgia.

A number of successful women business owners and leaders will be featured, including Ella Koscik, owner of MDI, who will conduct a session on "From Nothing to Millions: Grow Your Business Strategically." "What better way to learn about sales and how to use those sales to grow a business than from a woman whose business has grossed multi-million dollars in annual sales?" suggests Carol McDonell, newly appointed Director for the GWEN Division.

"What better way to learn the 'Power of the Balance Sheet' than from Emily Sanders, president of Sanders International, Inc. that handles more than $70 million in investment assets," adds McDonell.

"What better way to learn how to write and communicate than from women who are experts in communication? The word artist Michelle Lane, owner of Write to the Top along with Donna Satchell, owner of "Success! Can be Yours," are gurus of communication both written and spoken," according to McDonell.

Attendees can learn from the session titled, "Grow a Business That You Can Sell!" to be led by Julie Garella, an expert in capital funding and investment banking. She helps women business owners find funding to move their businesses forward.

The GWEN Conference 2005 is held concurrently with a Southeast Region Procurement Fair: Contacts and Contracts co-sponsored and coordinated by MARTA. Women business owners will have an opportunity to arrange a 15-minute individual interview with representatives from large corporations and government agencies.

The sessions and contacts offer valuable information and business building tools for Georgia's female business owners. The conference is affordable and a sound investment for business owners. Lori Canterbury, Associate State Director of the Georgia SBDC Network, will be the Mistress of Ceremony for this event.
