Le Serie del Caribe, una tradición beisbolísitica Hispanic PR Wire Para puertoriqueños, dominicanos, venezonalos, mexicanos y muchos otros residentes en el Mar Caribe, el béisbol es, simplemente, su deporte predilecto. Este año, la pasión por este deporte se celebra en la Serie del Caribe a jugarse en México durante la primera semana de febrero. La Serie viaja a la bella y pintoresca Mazatlán donde desde el primero al seis de febrero la atmósfera beisbolística caribeña se vestirá de gala en lo que promete ser una de las más emocionantes Series del Caribe en muchos años. Willie Mays Equipos procedentes de la República Dominicana, Puerto Rico, Venezuela y México se enfrentarán en una rápida y emocionante serie de 12 juegos, la cuál decidirá el campeón caribeño. Dominicana está ansiosa nuevamente por defender los campeonatos obtenidos en el 2003 y 2004 con los equipos de Las Aguilas Cibaeñas y Los Tigres del Licey, respectivamente. Mientras, los equipos de Puerto Rico, México y Venezuela, al igual que sus fanáticos, buscan retornar a la ruta ganadora. La Serie del Caribe, en muchas maneras, representa el espíritu y la pureza del deporte de la pelota y el guante. Una serie que comenzó en 1949 con equipos de Cuba, Puerto Rico, Panamá y Venezuela, rápidamente ganó la aceptación del talento beisbolístico del área del Caribe. Los mejores peloteros disponibles en la era romántica del béisbol se dieron cita en la Serie del Caribe, la cual ganó adeptos y la atención de toda fanaticada del béisbol. La primera Serie denotó la excelencia del equipo Cubano Las Estrellas de Almendares. Ese equipo incluyó a los Grandes Ligas cubanos, Orestes "Minnie" Miñoso y Tony Taylor, estrellas en el béisbol estadounidense. Subsecuentemente, estrellas como Willie Mays, Willard Brown, Satchel Page, Luis Aparicio, Victor Davalillo, Orlando Cepeda, Roberto Clemente y muchos otros grandes del deporte vistieron con orgullo los uniformes de muchos de los equipos participantes en los torneos añadiendo historia y tradición al béisbol caribeño. Luego de los cambios políticos en Cuba, a partir de 1960, la Serie del Caribe tomó un receso de 21 años pero regresó con fuerza en 1981 y desde ese momento se ha convertido en un evento de preponderancia anual. The Caribbean Baseball Series represents the true spirit of baseball. After the political changes in Cuba in 1960 The Caribbean World Series took a hiatus, but it returned in 1981 and since then it has become a yearly event.
