Ayuda médica en Athens

Muchas personas sin seguro médico dudan a la hora de visitar consultorios médicos para recibir cuidados y examenes de salud rutinarios. No sólo dejan de visitar al médico, el cual podría familiarizarse con su historial médico, sino que permiten que los problemas de salud pequeños se conviertan en enfermedades más complicadas. Muchas veces la asistencia médica la buscan en la Sala de Emergencia donde los pacientes pueden acabar pagando más de lo que les hubiese costado visitar al doctor y revisar su condición médica con anterioridad. Además, pacientes con problemas médicos graves, los cuales no pueden ser prevenidos, se ven forzados a tener que esperar ayuda médica de suma urgencia. Medical Care In Athens

Many people who don’t have medical insurance are reluctant to visit physicians’ offices for routine medical examinations and care. Not only do these patients fail to develop relationships with physicians who are knowledgeable about their personal medical histories, they also allow minor medical problems to become severe, more complicated ailments before seeking medical assistance. Often, they end up seeking medical care through a hospital Emergency Room, where patients may end up paying more than if they would have attended to their medical condition previously. In addition, patients with unpreventable acute medical problems will be forced to spend more time waiting for critical medical help. There are many health care facility options in Athens available for low-income or uninsured patients who have non-urgent medical needs.

Free clinic. Interpreters available. Open Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10am and Saturdays at 9am. Patients are attended on a first come, first served basis. Acute care (colds, coughs, ear aches, foot care), Adult Immunizations, Dental, Women’s Health, STD & HIV Testing and Education, Blood Pressure & Blood Sugar Monitoring.
