En la actualidad, la obtención de licencias de conducir por parte de inmigrantes indocumentados se ha convertido en un tema importante de debate en Estados Unidos, y Georgia no escapa a esta controversia. Los grupos que apoyan a los inmigrantes en Georgia aluden mejoras en la seguridad en las carreteras si se permite a los inmigrantes presentar el examen y conseguir la licencia.
Los políticos electos de Georgia deben votar para aprobar y permitir que los inmigrantes indocumentados obtengan la licencia de conducir. Las personas interesadas en contactar a los legisladores en Atlanta y hacerles llegar su apoyo a esta iniciativa, pueden utilizar la carta modelo a continuación.

Le escribo para pedirle que vote a favor del proyecto de ley HB1413, recientemente presentado por los Representantes Barbara Mobley y Pedro Marin. Este proyecto de ley sirve varios objetivos, uno de los cuales permitiría a inmigrantes indocumentados usar documentos de indetificación alternativos para solicitar una licencia de conducir. Uno de estos objetivos conseguiría tres imporantes logros para la gente de Georgia:
1. Mejorar la seguridad pública en nuestras carreteras

3. Mejorar la economía de Georgia
Estas razones por si solas son suficientes para dar un voto favorable a estos objeticos y el proyecto de ley en general. También se trata de un trato justo y decencia para un gran número de personas quienes contribuyen significativamente a la productividad de nuestro estado. Seguro que las industrias avícola, paisajista y de construcción en Georgia respaldan un ley que les permita tener una fuerza de trabajo más estable y motivada. La industria de seguros también se beneficiaría al permitir que cientos de conductores fueran elegibles para comprar seguro de automóvil. En estados donde ya existe esta ley, el número de conductores indocumentados a disminuido dramáticamente.
Esta propuesta de ley tiene sentido. Le animo a hacer todo lo posible por la gente de Georgia y gracias por sus muchas horas de trabajo. At present, the issuance of official state driver's licenses to undocumented immigrants has become an important subject of debate in the United States, and Georgia has not been excepted from involvement in this controversial topic. The groups that support undocumented immigrants in Georgia argue that allowing undocumented immigrants to apply for a licence, take the driver's examination and obtain an official driver's license can only lead to improvements in highway security.
For the many reasons listed in the sample letter provided below, the elected politicians of Georgia ought to vote in approval of allowing undocumented immigrants to obtain driver's licenses. Anyone who may be interested in contacting influential legislators in Atlanta and urging them to support this initiative can use this sample letter to register their own support of this bill.

Dear Rep. Parham:
I am writing to urge you to report HB1483, recently introduced by Rep. Barbara Mobley and Rep. Pedro Marin, with a "do pass." The bill serves several purposes but one provision would allow undocumented immigrants to use alternate forms of identification to apply for a driver's license. Such a provision is within the power of the Georgia General Assembly and is not linked to federal immigration laws. This provision would accomplish three things for the people of Georgia:
1. Improve public safety on our roads,
2. Improve national security, and
3. Improve the Georgia economy.
These alone are compelling reasons to give favorable consideration to this provision and to the bill as a whole. It is also a matter of fairness and decency for a large number of people who are contributing significantly to the productivity of our state. Surely the poultry, landscaping and construction industries in Georgia favors a provision which ensures them a more stable, more highly motivated work force. The insurance industry too will profit from making several hundred thousand drivers eligible to buy automobile insurance. In states, which have already passed such a measure, the uninsured motorist rate has dropped dramatically.
This piece of legislation makes good sense. I urge to do what it is in your power to do on behalf of all the people of Georgia.
