Welcome to Eco Latino, the Northeast Georgia bilingual publication
During the last 14 years the United States has experienced great growth in the Hispanic population. As the 2000 census shows, the Hispanic population had a national growth of 58%, making it the largest minority population in the country. Moreover, Georgia has one of the fastest-growing Hispanic populations. Between 1990 and 2000, it experienced an increase from 108,922 to 435,227, which represents a growth of 300%+. Hispanics now comprise 5.3% of Georgia's total population and have become the third largest demographic community in Georgia.
Northeast Georgia (Clarke, Hall, Barrow, Jackson, Walton, Banks, Oconee, and Madison counties) has not escaped this phenomenon. Overall, this area has seen 348% increase in its Hispanic population.
The Hispanic community has not only grown in size, but also in buying power. The Selig Center for Economic Growth at UGA predicts the buying power of Hispanics across the nation will rise by 375% by 2008, as compared to that of Non-Hispanics which is expected to increase by only 136%.
This trend has generated great interest in reaching the Hispanic market. As a result, more and more companies across the country, from multinational corporations to small businesses, are creating new strategies to take advantage of this growing market. Morris Communications is one of these companies, and Eco Latino was launched as a means to reach this important sector of the nation's population.
I invite you to be part of a smart group of businesses and organizations targeting this important market of our community, state, and nation. Be part of Eco Latino and reap the benefits of targeting this untapped market.
Sincerely yours,
José Romero Marketing/Sales Coordinator
